Famed German house producer, Claptone, made his return to Australia, this year taking on an interesting new site developed by Velodrome Events and Untitled Group. Once known for the the Halloween festival “Hauntville”, Burnley Circus Park gained a new lease for life as Claptone’s “The Masquerade” made it’s return for a single day of house music hits. Roaming circus performers, fire breathers, stilt walkers, and acrobats accompanied a crowd of mask-wearing punters for this incredible display.
The brian-child of champion tennis paralympian, Dylan Alcott; Ability Fest saw a successful 2nd year at the Coburg Velodrome, with over $300,000 in donations raised to support Australian youth with disabilities, and laying out the groundwork for what could be the start of something big for making all festivals disability accessible. Huge sets from The Preset, Hot Dub Time Machine, Supergroup ARC were just a few of the highlights, with the festival’s signature viewing platforms and accessible pathway, chill spaces, food trucks, and market stalls accompanying live entertainment.
For it’s third year running, Momo Fest tantalized the tastebuds of Coburg with thousands flocking through the Velodrome’s gates to get a taste of Nepal. This dumpling festival served over 30+ unique flavours of dumplings all day long, as well as an array of cultural activities for the whole family.
Ride In Cinema

Teaming up with Raine & Horne Brunswick, Trucked Up Entertainment, Projector Bike, Active Moreland, and the community of Moreland, Velodrome Events’ Ride In Cinema conquered the north with a 6 -event series of free outdoor cinemas. Running throughout summer, this was Ride In Cinema’s biggest series yet! Through partnering with primary schools and organisations such as Pascoe Vale North Primary School, St Bernard’s Primary School, The "Save Pascoe Vale Outdoor Pool” Group, Pascoe Vale Football Club, and Coburg Leisure Centre, the series raised over $3,000 in donations, which went straight to the partnering schools/organisations. This year’s cinemas were powered in-part by Projector Bike’s pedal-powered setup, teaching families sustainability, and promoting healthy lifestyle activities.
Duke Street Block Party
Bringing the show to the very steps of Velodrome Event’s Duke Street office, Duke Street Block Party ambitiously bought the businesses of Abbotsford’s industrial area together for a street-long fiesta!
With beer from the street’s very own Moon Dog Brewery, iced lattes made fresh by Coffee Bureaux, live displays at Kustom Kommune’s communal motorcycle workshop, and musical performances from the likes of Evelyn “Champagne” King, Floating Points, Total Giovanni, CC Disco, this was the first of a very promising series of future block parties!

After a successful campaign of south-side food food festivals, the Melbourne Street Eatz team ventured North for a massive 5 days of food, live music, outdoor cinemas, carnival rides and more!
Food trucks from all across Melbourne setup shop inside the Velodrome, serving an array of mouth-watering meals.
This year for the first time ever, live races from Coburg Cycling Club’s annual Race Day event took place alongside the festival!
Oodles of Oodles
Famed as “Melbourne’s Biggest Dog Party” this poodle appreciation gathering saw over 500 pooches and their owners join together to celebrate all things canine.
Freedom Time Winter '18
The perfect combination of soulful electronica and visual arts, Freedom Time’s winter sequel returned to the Velodrome for it’s second year, with performances from Wax’o Dystopio, Veronica Vasicka, Butter Sessions’ Sleep D and many more.
Claptone's 'The Masquerade'
Critically acclaimed German house producer Claptone took to the stage bringing with him a stellar supporting lineup. The single-day festival featuring catchy dance tracks, food trucks, market stalls, and performances from some of Australia’s most talented circus performers.
Australia’s first ever disability-friendly music festival - the brainchild of Paralympic champion and influential public figure Dylan Alcott. The festival featured high-billed acts such as Kingswood, Boo Seeka, Tkay Maidza, Jack River, Motez, and a back-to-back DJ set from Flight Facilities and Client Liaison, all of whom kindly donated their time in support. The festival raised almost $200k towards the Dylan Alcott Foundation to support Australian youth with disabilities.
MoMo Fest '18
Another weekend of delicious ‘momo’ dumplings, Solangture’s annual Nepalese dumping festival spanned across three big days of family-friendly activities, with carnival rides, competitions, live entertainment just to name a few!
Pool House Party
Iconic up-and-coming rock group The Smith Street Band launched their very own music festival, inviting acts from their label Pool House Records to perform alongside them inside them, such as The Bennies, Tropical Fuck Storm, Bec Sandridge, WAAX, Baker Boy, Ceres and many more!
Freedom Time NYD '18
Returning to Coburg’s concrete ring, Freedom Time NYD 2018 saw nothing but clear skies and good vibes. The crowd boogied on as billed acts such as Larry Heard aka Mr. Fingers, Leroy Burgess & Harvey Sutherland, Johnny Osbourne, Nai Palm, Sampa the Great, and CC:Disco!, worked their magic on the stage.

Ride In Cinema presents: Home Alone. A free outdoor screening for the whole family, in the lead-up to Christmas.
Aussie psychedelic-rock group King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard took on the Coburg Velodrome, with the help of musical acts Pond, White Fence, The Murlocs, Stonefield, and many more. Thousands gathered inside the concrete dome to enjoy the band’s 2nd annual festival.
Freedom Time Winter '17
Freedom Time’s now bi-annual festival returned to boogie the cold out of festival-goers with DJ sets and performances from DJ Harvey, Kim Ann Foxman, Wax’o Dystopio, CC:Disco! to name a few. A giant tent filling the Velodrome sheltered punters from the winter chill, providing the ultimate space for zesty tunes and groovy beats.
MoMo Fest '17
Solangture’s annual Nepalese dumpling and culture festival reunited with Coburg Velodrome for another year, with more dumpling than you could lay your eyes on! Instrumental folk music, an array of market stalls, and a field full of Nepalese dumpling vendors were just a few of the many delights at this festival, which also raised almost six thousand dollars’ in gold coin donations for the Laprak Reconstruction Project.

Food Truck Festival
The talk of the town and flavour on everyone’s lips in January 2017 was Coburg Veldrome’s very own food truck festival. A massive weekend of great food and live entertainment was a success, with people flocking from all over Melbourne to enjoy the festivities.
Freedom Time NYD '17
Freedom Time’s first ever New Years Day festival proved a hit, selling out rapidly. With international acts such as Theo Parish and Nick The Record, not even the classically bipolar Melbourne weather could bring down the masses, as they boogies through rain, hail and shine.
Santa's Break-Down Under
In the spirit of Christmas, Velodrome Events held 3 festive themed circus performances, telling the hilarious story of how after finding out the glaciers are melting, Santa Clause must relocate from the North Pole, and begin a new life in Down Under.
